Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. The most well-known of her works is the lead in the 1984 Prince Purple Rain film and lead singer in the girl-group Apollonia 6 Apollonia was christened as a female singer and actress by Prince. The 1980s were a time of change for her she was among several other performers who gained from Prince. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the late '70s. The first time she appeared was on CHiPS. The female lead of Prince's Purple Rain was her first performance that she played in the year the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name in this period. She replaced Vanity with the female trio Vanity 6 to perform in the film with Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter, a song from the soundtrack made a tiny hit for her trio but when she was Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You she had more success. Kotero was able to break up with Prince after the two fell apart over the direction of Apollonia 6. Kotero then appeared in a handful of minor movies in the late 1980s (reportedly refusing an offer to star in the Purple Rain-follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to settling for an evening-time part in the drama Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia was finally able to release her debut in 1988 but the fairly pedestrian set of R&B/dance songs failed to make much impression on those who bought music, and the album soon vanished out of sight. The actress continued acting (if somewhat unnoticed) during the subsequent decade. Small TV appearances, minor films, and exercise videos kept her full of work. Apollonia recorded a Spanish/English Album entitled Stay with me in 1997. Later, she returned to the school and to study filmmaking, and formed her own production firm, which mainly focuses on children's television. Apollonia has many jobs. She was a model, singer-actress and talent manager. She is best known as an actress for her part in the film Purple Rain from 1984.
